What's new?
The key change concerns the marking and labeling of vehicles transported in accordance with SV 666. Previously, these vehicles were subject to the provisions of Chapter 5.2 ADR/RID regarding marking and labeling, even if they were fully packed.
This will change with the new M363 and RID 2/2025 agreements. Specifically, the new regulations state:
Notwithstanding SV 666 (e) ADR/RID, vehicles that are completely enclosed in packaging, crates or other means that prevent easy identification are not subject to the marking and labeling requirements of Chapter 5.2.
What does this mean for your company?
This change is a significant relief for anyone transporting fully packaged vehicles. In practice, it means:
- Less effort: If your vehicles are completely enclosed in packaging that makes them difficult to identify directly, there is no need for additional marking and labeling as required in Chapter 5.2. This saves you valuable time and resources.
- Optimized processes: Your logistics processes can be made more efficient because one work step is eliminated.
- Clear guidelines: The new agreements provide clarity and legal certainty for the transport of these specific goods.
At Boxlab Services, we closely follow developments in the field of dangerous goods regulations and adapt our services accordingly. These new multilateral agreements are an excellent example of how adjustments to ADR/RID can simplify the transportation of dangerous goods without compromising safety.
